I’m sorry to say, you can’t shop your way out of environmental destruction. What’s more, 0% finance will not cure your children’s asthma, and you’ve already bought now in order to pay later.
And now it is later.
When I was young, I wanted to live in the future, and now I do. But where are the silver suits and flying cars? There are such things, of course, but what I see is empty shops, rubbish in the streets, people sleeping in doorways and a collapsing ecosystem.
Be careful what you wish for, I suppose, and, rather like Brexit, make sure you research it fully before wishing for it.
We also used to wish it could be Christmas everyday, and we’re not far off. Some of the big stores start in July and it’s only a matter of time before Christmas becomes #Xmas365 with only one day off every four years to take all your unwanted gifts to the local landfill site.
